EPDM Systems
Description: EPDM (ethylene propylene diene terpolymer) is a strong, durable synthetic rubber roofing membrane. It was first used in roofing in the 1960s, but gained major popularity in the 1980s. Its two primary ingredients, ethylene and propylene, are derived from oil and natural gas. One of the most beneficial qualities of EPDM roofing is its incredible durability, lasting anywhere from 30 to 50 years if properly maintained. It is highly resistant to UV radiation and able to remain flexible in extreme temperatures. It's also relatively easy to install and repair.
EPDM is available in black or white, reinforced or non-reinforced. It is sold in a broad range of available widths, ranging from 7.5' to 50', and in various thicknesses, from 45 mils to 90 mils. EPDM can be installed either fully adhered, mechanically attached, or ballasted, with the seams of the roofing system sealed with liquid adhesives or two-sided adhesive tape.
